I was diagnosed with stress and anxiety about 12 months ago. After starting medication and seeing little improvement my GP recommended that I talked to a counsellor and recommended initially visiting a few counsellors as its really important to feel completely comfortable with the person.
Before making an appointment to see Alison I truly felt that I was worthless. I had lost all my confidence, I was very insecure and I was isolating myself from friends and family because my emotions were very erratic and difficult for me to control.

On meeting Alison for the first time I instantly felt comfortable and safe with her. Alison was really skilful at gently questioning me on certain areas of my life to identify where the stress and anxiety was being caused. Her calm and caring demeanor made it easy for me to talk openly about how I felt.

Alison and I quickly identified that it was my job that was the key catalyst in the way I was feeling and I was allowing this to impact other areas of my life. Above I say Alison and I identified the catalyst, as this is a truly accurate reflection of what happened. It was not Alison telling me what she thought the cause was. It was through gentle questioning and allowing me to reflect on the person I used to be that it became so apparent what the real cause of my anxiety was.

Alison also offered me hypnotherapy during my sessions. I have felt these to be extremely useful with building up my confidence and reducing my insecurities.
